Getting ready for the ball

Getting ready for the ball

Thanks to everyone who came out to the President’s Birthday Ride on Sunday. The weather was not the best but it was a great ride. It’s always a joy when you find some newly resurfaced roads.

Now it’s time to let the motorbikes have a little rest

while we get ready for the Black and White Ball on Saturday, August 6.

This is the biggest function in the DOB calendar — well, maybe the Mardi Gras parade is really the biggest but this one we do all by ourselves. We have been running the ball for quite a few years and have found a wonderful home at Newtown Jets. This event is open to the entire community so everyone is welcome to come along and have a great night out with us.

The main theme of the night is Black and White, giving everyone the opportunity to dress up in their formal wear. How often do you get a chance to drag your tails out of the closet?

Every so often we add a special theme and this year it is Rockabilly. So you can choose tails and evening dress or possibly the poodle skirt and bowling shirt. We’ll be treating the night the same way with splashes of theme thrown in throughout the evening.

The seriously sexy Sandi Hotrod will be spinning the discs to keep everyone dancing and we will have live and drag entertainment throughout the evening. There will also be a burlesque number and to top off the evening the perfectly precious Prada Clutch will sing for us. Last year Prada had the girls screaming down the house for her and I doubt she will be disappointed this year.

Tickets are available at MaXXX Black, King St, Newtown or by contacting a DOB committee member. You will also find us out and about over the next few weeks with a couple of extra tickets in our pockets. The tickets are $25 pre-sale ($20 for DOB, SLPA, HCB, Femme Guild ans conc) and $30 at the door.

Look forward to seeing you there but until then, ride safe and sexy.
