Fundraising from the inner to the outer west

Fundraising from the inner to the outer west

Can I say with shear excitement and a huge amount of relief that Heaven’s 2nd birthday was a HUGE success!

We had boys, girls, trannies, cross dressers, drags and more! It was a veritable rainbow of the community who turned out to support the night.

We would like to say a sincere thank you to all the people who donated their time and effort to help make the night such a wonderful success with almost 200 patrons and raising over $1800 for the Western Suburbs Haven. A big thank you also to our sponsors Acacia Catering, Sydney Star Observer and ACON. It was our biggest night ever and we could not have done it without each and everyone of the people involved.

Our next dance will be held on August 8th, and our first show at 10.30pm will likely be dedicated to a number of girls hoping to join -˜Your Westy Divas’. If you’re interested please email us at [email protected].

On the topic of fundraisers let’s not forget about The Polly’s Club! Coming up on the 4th July they will be celebrating their 45th birthday with -˜Star and Stripes’. There will be a fabulous camp show and cheques worth thousands of dollars to give away to worthy charities like the Western Suburbs Haven. Over the years Polly’s has given away over $150,000. What an amazing effort from a bunch of camp queens!

Other happenings outside the ghetto include the Wollongong Unity Dance on 11th July at the Beaton Park Tennis Club. With a theme of -˜Out in Space’ I can’t wait to see some of the drag queens dressed up as a fat astronauts like me! I am sure the shows will be camp as tits, plus there will be plenty of hot southerners to keep you warm on a cold winters night. If you’re after a sure thing -“ be sure to meet up with Lola in cubical two!

Another event down south is Afterglow-¦. Whoops sorry. It is now called Taboo! We won’t go into why it changed names-¦ controversial subject! But let’s say that Taboo sounds like it is going to be a great event! With an all boy cast in one of the shows -“ Boy Breaker you will definitely get a perve. Every Thursday night at the old Chequers nightclub -“ or for those of you who are not as old as me – Pure Night Club, Crown Street Wollongong.

Queer Out West has also found some new ongoing special guest presenters to join the show each month. Tune in on the second Monday of the month to hear the fabulously loud Ida Slapda and Matt Vaughan from ACON, or the fourth Monday of the month to hear myself and the campest of camp Aleks Smith who will dish all the dirt on the Sydney drags!

Drag Gossip: Which western Sydney drag queen has become a bit of an amateur photographer with a collection of amazing-¦ ahem-¦ crotch shots!? I can’t believe there is an even bigger slag in the west than me!

Until next time gorgeous!
