Imagination

Dad, I want to play in your car and drive to the moon-¦ Imagination is a wonderful, precious thing, especially to two little boys under the age of four.

I have two amazing sons. To further introduce myself, I’m also a son, a brother, an ex-husband, a friend and a boyfriend. The sum of my parts equals one very crazy, busy individual!!

Let’s begin with last weekend. Friday evening I spent navigating northbound traffic from a balcony overlooking the Bridge, glass in hand lolly gagging with a friend. I reminded myself after three hours that navigating actually meant I should be in said traffic. I also decided to give the cute English backpackers down on the street a reprieve from my constant oogling. They had tired of me spilling my wine out in dollops as I precariously leaned too far over the railing to get a better look. It was shameless-¦

I spent the remainder of the weekend kicking soccer balls, making cheese and vegemite sandwiches (I get to eat the crusts, so it fits the carb diet limits), a trip to the doctor over a three and a half year old bruised cheekbone (he was dancing too close to the stereo cabinet.. bless), piggy back rides and reading bedtime stories, then off to a night out at the Oxford to see a show where my sole focus was which pointy shoes must I wear and do they go with my brown leather wrist band?

In taking a breath after my -˜mini men’ weekends, I take time to think about how it went and can I learn something from these two young men to inspire me and others around me-¦

Imagine having the positive outlook of a little blond-haired boy who can spend hours in the front of a slightly old, red Mitsubishi Lancer and believes he’s a super hero flying to the moon, with his little brother co-piloting. His only cares in the world at that moment, is twisting all the knobs, pushing all the buttons and trying to dislodge the sticky, half eaten red snake from the air vents.

Consider being that happy for one moment.
