New fuel in the old car

New fuel in the old car

I think I’m a goal-driven person. If I set myself a goal, I will work as hard as I can to complete it as best as I can.

My goal is October 14, Miss Pole Dance Australia, I need to be in the fittest state I can be, for one of my most revealing outfit. So revealing, there will be nowhere to hide in it.

About two weeks ago I started to pull my socks up.

I am knee-deep in exercise, fruit, vegetables, lean beef and protein shakes. As I’m a lazy person, I find I have to block in everything so I am not left with empty time. If I have a strict schedule and eating plan, I’m less likely to take a trip down the lolly aisle.

But let’s face it, trying to get fit and healthy is very confusing. To carb or not to carb, that is a huge question. I’m fine at the moment, but I can assure you, when I hit week five, I will be like a wild dog, rummaging around the pantry for some buttery toast and peanut butter.

Cutting out all the good things I grew up on, like pasta and bread, after a while sends me batty. I have to treat myself just to save my sanity, scoffing only half, before getting the guilts and throwing the rest out, or sneaking it to the dog.

My body is coughing and spluttering like an old car with new fuel in it. But it shouldn’t be long before it all becomes second nature, with my mind not thinking about the sugary alternatives as I reach for an apple or a handful of almonds (yes, handful, I refuse to count out bloody almonds).

My time on the cross-trainer will increase and I will be running like the wind. Talking about wind, is it just me or does everyone have the same reaction to protein drinks?
