New Illawarra groups

New Illawarra groups

Winter sees the formation of two new groups in the Illawarra as the newly launched Come Out Illawarra branch begins activities and ACON launches its new youth project in the area.

After a successful launch in June, with around 40 people in attendance, Come Out Illawarra is off to a great start! This social group exists to provide a range of events to cater to the interests of the local community as identified by the community itself.

The group is still in organising and planning mode, which means it is a great time to get involved and give some input into what events you would like to see happen in the area.

No ideas are unwelcome, just call Michael on 4226 1163 and have a chat about what you would like to see Come Out do as an activity and how you think it can be achieved.

Come Out Illawarra will also hold monthly catch-ups on the second Sunday of each month at The Hideaway Café in the Mall from 11am. Please call 4226 1163 for more information.

Changes are also underway in the youth project at ACON as our new team member Chadwick helps the youth group reinvent itself to suit the changing needs of young GLBT people in the Illawarra.

The first step in this process is the launch of a new group, Q to Q, to replace the longstanding fortnightly youth group, Young and Proud.

While it is sad to see YAP go, the new group promises to be an exciting and vibrant part of the Illawarra community.

Q to Q will be held fortnightly on Thursdays from 5pm till 7pm or 8pm depending on that week’s activity.

Look out for details of the launch date of this exciting new group or call Chadwick at ACON Illawarra 4226 1163 to find out when Q to Q next meet.
