The winter months

The winter months

Just because the weather gets colder does not mean DOB goes into hiding.  We still get together for a ride every second weekend or so.

The next one, on Saturday, July 2, is a day trip to the Road Warriors Café, a favourite haunt of motorcyclists. Not necessarily for the food — although it is quite good — but because the road to get there is full of beautiful twists and turns. If the gods aren’t smiling on us and the weather is horrid we will get together at the Hampshire Hotel for lunch and games of pool.

Then we have the President’s Birthday Ride on Sunday, July 17. Nic has chosen the route for this one as it’s her birthday and she’ll take us where she wants to go. She has let slip that we’ll be heading somewhere around Galston Gorge and the Berowra Ferry. We’ll gather back at the Hampshire Hotel for celebratory drinks afterwards. If it’s raining, we’ll head to Laser Skirmish and then to the Hampy for those drinks.

At this time of the year we also start preparations for our ‘night of nights’, the annual Black & White Ball. This is our major fundraiser and is open to the whole community. It’s a great opportunity to dress up and have a ball.

We will hold the ball at Jets Sports Club in Tempe on Saturday, August 6 and our theme this year is ‘Black & White and a little Rockabilly’. Expect wide sideburns and mile-high quiffs, poodle skirts and petticoats, bowling shirts and tuxedos.

We have a mix of live and drag performances and, of course, DOB’s delicious DJ Sandi Hotrod.

Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested in performing on the night, want more information on the event or would like to join us for a ride.

Until I see you next time, ride safe and sexy.
