Have a happy Valentine’s
For the lucky in love, this Monday is the time to show it. But before you head out for that candlelit dinner, Valentine’s Day is being marked with several events in Melbourne and its surrounds this weekend, and the Star Observer has the pick of the bunch.
For the grrrlz
Shebar is back at the Glasshouse Hotel in Collingwood this Saturday, February 12 for a special Valentine’s Day edition. You can join the crew in some wining, dining and dancing with diverse genres of music across the two dancefloors.
DJ Trish and DJ Catronia Constance (UK) will be providing the tunes on the night, as well as live music featuring Maria Bongorinio from 9.30-10pm. As usual, there will be lots of giveaways, drink specials all night and meals available until 9pm with their very own new French chef.

Westies need lovin’ too
For those a little out of Melbourne, Klozet Sundays — the club night for the Geelong GLBTIQ community — is back this Sunday, February 13 at the Max Hotel celebrating Valentine’s Day the night before. From 6pm they’ll have drag queens Coco Le Bon and Destiny Forbbiden plus DJs Simon Edwards and Lindsay Marchment spinning the decks. Visit Klozet Sundays’ Facebook page for further details.
Mechanics of love
Prahran’s much loved Gossip Sunday night at Love Machine is getting all fancy for a Secret Admirer Masquerade this Sunday, February 13. It’s a great chance to meet someone before the big day if you haven’t got a beau already. DJs KDJ, Mr Stoj and Peter McNamara are playing on the classic romantic evening. But remember not to risk your chance at true love: no mask, no entry.
