Natalie wants Mardi Gras gig

Natalie Bassingthwaighte wants to be a gay icon -” and she’s willing to pay her dues for the privilege.
Bassingthwaighte was the surprise performer at the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert musical after-party on Saturday night, writhing around on a stage with a bevy of handsome semi-naked men.

The diva told the media she was keen to play Mardi Gras as a solo act -” she did play Sleaze as part of the Rogue Traders a couple of years back -” as she prepares to launch her debut single Alive.

Mardi Gras chair David Imrie said the organisation would be keen to talk further with the one-time Neighbours starlet and host of the hit TV show So You Think You Can Dance Australia.
We loved having Natalie perform at Sleaze 2006 when she was with the Rogue Traders and we believe she will be a fantastic solo performer, he said.

Bassingthwaighte is the second diva in a year to use the media to seek a gig at Mardi Gras. Disco legend Donna Summer used an interview with Sydney Star Observer to also register her interest in performing at the party next year.

Naturally Sydney Star Observer has put the relevant people in contact with each other. We just have to wait and see what comes of it.
