Dykes on Bikes start our year with three major events — Fair Day, the Mardi Gras Parade and our Bike and Tattoo Show which was held on March 19.
The weather was not on our side but plenty of girls still came along and showed off their beasties or flashed a little flesh to win some great prizes. Thank you to everyone who came along and helped us raise more than $1500 for our charities.
Thank you to the businesses who donated prizes — Mischief Moon, Sax Fetish, House of Fetish, Gallery Serpentine, Jay and the boys at SMW, MCA City, Western Motorcycles, MaXXX Black and Domayne Alexandria. A big thank you to our entertainers and judges who donated their time and talents — Jen, Tex and Bundy, Terri Dodd, J Bear, Jo Martin, Jonnie Swift, Sandi Hotrod, Geoff Ostling, Elise Archer and Honi Greenwood.
Now the party season is over it’s time to get back to basics — riding motorcycles. There is something special about heading out on the bike with a bunch of girls. We may not have thousands of people cheering us on like we do in the parade but even a small group heading out for a ride is a great feeling. There is a sense of solidarity that I don’t think you can ever really experience in a car.
Sometimes our rides are local jaunts around Sydney and a chance to catch up and sometimes we head out for a couple of hours on a day ride. Every so often the road calls us and we blow the cobwebs out with some Iron Butt riding. That’s what happened last weekend.
Saturday was a warm-up session of about 350km before camping overnight near the river. The ride on Sunday was the big one — around 550km before we were back home.
If you ride a bike/ scooter/ trike and you want to meet like-minded women, get in touch. I’m sure there will be something to suit your bike and your riding habits.
Hopefully we’ll get to see you soon but until then, ride safe and sexy.
