Glambert rocks Sydney

Glambert rocks Sydney

Gay goth rocker Adam Lambert brought his unique musical style to Sydney on Wednesday night, playing to a packed Enmore Theatre.

It was the American Idol runner-up’s second visit to the Sydney in a year, having played the Mardi Gras party earlier this year.

Lambert was in fine form, singing tracks from his album For Your Entertainment and a cover of Ring of Fire.

And there was one particularly lucky audience member who managed to score himself a little Lambert tongue in between songs.

Photos from the opening number are now online in our photo gallery. Click HERE to see them.

  1. Hilarious. You can always tell a US poster a mile away! Geez why are they all so uptight… don’t answer that we already know.

Fantastic concert BTW.. wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Adam said he loves it here in Oz, and has said so on more that one occasion. Here’s to hoping he can stay longer next time and enjoy our wonderful hospitality.

  2. Adam Lammbert fans stop piling up on the writer. If one person made their point no need to have 10 more parroting the same thing. I hope you guys are his younger fans and don’t know any better. Grow up. If you didn’t know this was a gay blog than you should not be commenting on every article on how
AMAZING Adam was. Enough. I am also assuming posters are not from OZ or they would have known better. Let the Adam fans from their own country comment on their articles.

  3. I agree with Cee but also with CLMTA. Adam is not a Goth Rocker, he’s a Glam Pop/Rocker.

This is a gay magazine and as CLMTA said, there are a lot of people in Australia who have never heard of Adam. Not everyone in Australia has cable or satellite TV ….. about 25-30% I’ve heard, and not all of those who have cable or satellite TV watch American Idol so it’s important to state who he is. His concerts are AMAZING….. he really is a SUPERSTAR already and as he’s remarked himself, he’s still a new artist and imo, he’s a mighty fine one at that.

Being gay is part of who Adam is but there’s much, more to Adam than being gay. His voice and his performances absolutely rock concert arenas and he’s enjoying sold-out concerts around the world.

I wholeheartedly agree with CLMTA that Adam has not had enough promotion in Oz. He’s the best singer/performer to come to Oz in a very long time. I only hope we see Adam here in our country, singing to his heart’s content, in the not too distant future.

  4. Wish US fans would spend as much time bashing their homophobic editors in their own country as they do out of country! But all in all, its because they love him like we do! Buit lets get one thing straight, Adam Lambert was runner up to know one!! A corrupt system with a few cheaters stole that title from him but who cares, Adam is showing he was the winner and always will be!!! Loved his Austrialia shows, the guy is friggin awesome!!

  5. Hello this is a gay blog. What a lot of the US does not realize is that in my opinion & others is that Adam has not had enough promotion in Oz & his tours here have been very quick & rushed. People are still getting to know him & plenty of people still don’t know who he is, so basically we have to use the AI runner up title to enlighten them. Also Oz is not so Uptight about the gay issue like the US, which is why I took both my children to the concerts & not worry about what Adam was going to do or kiss on stage. Adam also said in an interview that he was so happy to see more teens in the audience in his NZ & Australian shows. So US before you say anything maybe you should do some research about the country he is at, because when I read some of the comments I was like WTF US..

  6. God some people are just so ridiculous aren’t they.

    1) Adam is gay – this is a gay website – it makes sense they would make the reference and early on as it provides the reason for the interest

    2) He was the runner-up on American Idol – statement of fact also, like it or not.

    3) Did you actually see the show? It was pretty clear Adam was trading on his sexuality – tongue kissing a boy in the audience, pretending to butt fuck a dancer, making references to his sexuality multiple times throughout the show

If you can’t handle the truth people, then look for somewhere else to post your ridiculous head-in-the-sand comments.
Kudos to the photographer – he/she has really managed to capture the intensity of the opening of the show in the shots – the colour and the movement.

    Well done!

  7. I agree with Cee. It is completely unnecessary to always point out the fact that Adam is gay. Everyone already knows it and none of his fans care in the least. What matters is his fantastic voice, his wonderful personality and his amazing showmanship. Can you please focus on what’s relevant?

Also, why always point out that he was the runner-up on Idol? He is so far beyond his Idol days that that is irrelevant as well. For Pete’s sake, let Adam be his own superstar self in every way.

  8. I actually liked the handle you gave him. Gay Goth Rocker. Australia’s culture is different and I know that description is not in any way a slur on him. Things are just so tense in the US these days that people are trying to get rid of “gay” as a derogatory comment.

  9. Exactly, I agree with Cee… there’s absolutely NO need to start it out with “Gay goth rocker”… He isn’t even goth, lol. He’s glam. It’s actually a pet peeve he has have “gay” in front of his name… you can acknowledge it, if you feel the need, just don’t begin with it. That’s not what he does, he’s a SINGER & performer. Start with that. Thank you. You should write about what a fantastic voice he has & how was the show?

  10. I totally agree with Cee.. sexuality doesn’t define you! And if you believe it does, fine, but then mention the sexuality of every single person you write an article about..

  11. Just back from the Brisbane concert at the Tivoli ……seriously amazing performer – magical voice! We loved it!

  12. I agree with Cee above, it should be about his music. Did he rock the house? Yes he definitely did bring down the house. Period!

  13. Adam can be described in so many ways, why gay (we know and do not care) and why goth? He is all about light and love, things not associated with goth.

  14. Cee…I so agree with you. It says so much more about the columnist than it does about Adam. I hope it gets “better”.

  15. Is your staff all Homophobic? At least one is since they just had to add the “Gay” at the beginning of this. No wonder we have so many young people committing suicide out there…they are bombarded by bigots like you! Adam Lambert is an awesome “SINGER”. His orientation does not matter to his fans! Have some class! Leave the “Gay” out of this!!!

  16. I agree with you Cee. The story could have/should have started with Goth rocker Adam Lambert brought his unique style …

  17. Good Question and comment Cee. While I’m certain this writer is in no way mean-spirited and means no harm, I’m so tired of seeing / hearing the word “gay” before the words Adam Lambert. We all know he’s gay but, last time I looked, he was singing into a microphone not his penis so I fail to see what his sexuality has to do with the music. Either give it a rest or point out every artist’s sexuality (you’d be shocked how many you’d get wrong).

  18. Cee, look around at the site you are on. This is a gay newspaper. Of course they are going to mention that he’s gay. We are allowed to identify and embrace our own community and we don’t need permission from clueless straight people like you.

  19. @Cee duh……maybe because it’s a gay blog. Look up and around before you comment. I’m sure you meant well but seriously girl.

  20. Tired of reading “gay singer” and “Idol runner-up”. Perhaps you could move on to “AMAZINGLY talented singer” and “successful artist”. Perhaps mention his gold and platinum achievements and sold out shows around the world.

  21. This wasn’t a review, it was just statements of facts, albeit facts that are mostly unnecessary. Yes, Adam is gay – yes, he was the American Idol runner-up – both statements are SO known that they don’t bear repeating, and repeating and repeating ad nauseum. As for “goth” – um, I don’t think so. Black nail polish does not a Goth make. “Rocker” – OK, but Glam is the word I think you were looking for – and even the glam look is only for on the stage. Performance Artist, unparalleled singer – there are lots of accurate descriptions that could be used.

BTW – you spelled Wednesday wrong.

  22. Again, why the neccessity to preface Adam Lambert with “gay”? Who cares!! Adam is a singer extradinaire. Do try to expand your writing abilities and creativity by focusing on the singer and performer not your obsession whether with the ‘gay’ ‘straight’ stuff. That is so yesterday.

  23. who cares that he is gay.
hes not goth either its glam rock image portrayed to be as goth, they dont let goth on mainstream radios.
he should just be known as Glam rock adam lmabert or just by his name adam lambert

    labelling is so cliche

  24. Why is it necessary for you point out he’s gay? Who cares and why does it matter? Do you always print “the straight Justin Timberlake” or whoever else that is straight? He’s an awesome singer and great performer. The focus should be about his music, style and not his orientation.
