More than six million users are now on Grindr and users spend 90 minutes on average on the app daily, according to a survey.

Grindr is the popular gay hook-up app which uses location-based technology.

Users logged into Grindr about eight times a day on average, found the survey that was conducted by Grindr last month with over 5,000 US-based respondents.

Up to 190,000 users are on the app at any given time and nearly 10,000 new users join it each day.

The app was launched in 2009 and has grown by 2.5 million in the last year alone.

The survey also found that 80 per cent of millennials (gen Y members) agreed that their generation overshared.

It found 71 per cent of respondents were comfortable sharing their personal information and 92 per cent were comfortable being tracked by enabling their location-based service.

“Our latest survey reveals that the top apps that millennials are most addicted to are Facebook, Grindr, Instagram and Twitter. It’s about connecting with their friends and sharing their experiences, whether that’s by posting pictures, revealing their location or offering whatever is on their mind,” said Grindr CEO and finder Joel Simkhai.
