Meet The Winners Of Brisbane Pride’s LGBTQ+ Grants Totalling $94,500

Brisbane Pride has announced the winning organisations that will share $94,500 in grants to support Pride festivals, community events, and grassroots initiatives that uplift Queensland’s LGBTQ+ communities. 

A total of $83,500 has been awarded through the Queensland Pride Grants program, supporting Pride festivals and community initiatives across regional and metropolitan Queensland. Moreover, a further $11,000 has been awarded through the Brisbane Pride Community Grants Program to support 11 grassroots projects. 

“Pride is about more than one day or one event,” said Brisbane Pride President James McCarthy. “It is about creating opportunities for people to come together, build connections, celebrate who they are and ensure that LGBTIQ+ communities are visible and valued right across Queensland.

“Through the Brisbane Pride Community Grants and Queensland Pride Grants, we are helping community organisations turn their ideas into action — from regional Pride festivals and community celebrations to programs supporting young people, culturally diverse communities, trans and gender diverse people and those experiencing isolation.”

Queensland Pride Grant Winners

Among the Queensland Pride Grant winners are Gurambilbarra Townsville Pride Collective and Cairns Pride, both awarded $15,000 to facilitate their regional pride festivals.  Another $16,500 went to the Sunshine Coast Pride Network to establish and deliver its new Community Pride Picnic. 

Otherwise, Gold Coast Pride Collective will receive $15,000 to support Gold Coast Pride Fair Day 2027, as well as $3,000 to deliver Trans Formal 2027. Additionally, Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre will receive $1,500 to establish the Palm Beach Pride Collective. 

Other Queensland Pride Grant recipients include Rainbow on the Reef Limited, which will receive $6,000 to support the Rainbow on the Reef Pride Festival in Gladstone; Queensland LGBTQIA+ Alliance, which will receive $6,000 to support a regional LGBTQIA+ Sector Forum in Cairns; and gar’ban’djee’lum Network, which will receive $5,500 to support the 2026 Black Pride Queer Celebration. 

Brisbane Pride Community Grant Winners

This year’s Brisbane Pride Community Grants include $1,500 to headspace Ipswich to support Rainbow Chaos Springfield, a community development initiative providing connection and support for LGBTQIA+ young people in the Ipswich region. 

Sparks on the Spectrum will receive $1,000 to support an accessible social connection group for neurodivergent LGBTQIA+, Sistergirl, and Brotherboy people. Meanwhile QTrans will receive $1,000 to deliver Queer CALD Connections: Creating Community, Strength and Pride, supporting queer migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, and other culturally and linguistically diverse community members. 

Other successful Brisbane Pride Community Grant recipients include QLD Camping Bears, Free Mum Hugs, Trans and Gender Diverse Kids Australia, The Late Blooming Lounge, The Boot Co Brisbane Leather Denim Uniform Club, Lucent Flow & Gold Coast Pride Collective, Queensland Leather Pride, and Brisbears Social Club.

“QLD Leather Pride is so grateful to be one of the recipients of a Brisbane Pride community grant,” said Lord Sev on behalf of Queensland Leather Pride. “Every year we strive to deliver a Brisbane Leather Week and annual calendar that is more inclusive and accessible, that highlights and celebrates the women, queers and gender nonconforming folks in our leather community and strives to remove the barriers to access and safety.

“This grant will allow us to invest in a portable ramp for all future events, to build better access guides, expand our Auslan coverage and develop our event recovery and rescue kits, to support disabled and chronically ill community members in our spaces.”
