Forum for GLBT future
Planning for the future of NSW’s gay lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community will be the focus of a forum on June 28 as part of Sydney Pride Festival.
The forum is the latest stage of GLBT NSW 2020, a community project that aims to help shape the development of the state’s GLBT community over the next 10 years. For the last 18 months, the project’s working group has been conducting research into NSW’s GLBT community, surveying more than 1000 community members.
ACON president and working group member Mark Orr said the data collected during the consultation process painted a fascinating picture of NSW’s GLBT community.
“The information we’ve gathered as part of the GLBT NSW 2020 process confirms some widespread assumptions about the nature of our community, but it also challenges some of the conventional thinking about how our community wants to develop,” he said.
“We’ll be revealing all the details at the forum, so I encourage community members to get along, discuss the findings with us and then offer us their thoughts on how we can use this information.”
The free forum will run from 6.30-8pm on Monday, June 28 at Twenty10 (Aurora Room), 45 Bedford St, Newtown.
