A message to you all — thank you!
It might seem a little early to say thank you, I mean it’s only the day after World AIDS Day. However, some people have been supporting us year after year, so dropping a little thank-you letter into the Star Observer knows no time limitations.
We had more than 100 volunteers in the CBD handing out red ribbons yesterday and we gave away more than 50,000 ribbons in total.
The fact that we were able to give them away is due to our very generous sponsor ViiV Healthcare who paid for them.
Knowing that at least 50,000 people are wearing a red ribbon to show their support only makes you think the greatest of thoughts.
Of course, nationally, there are thousands more proudly displaying their ribbon and across the world, well, who knows how many?
To sit and compile a list of the individuals we would like to thank would take me literally hours — that’s how giving people are when HIV/AIDS is the focus.
I also know those same people who gave so much don’t need the thanks as that’s not why they do it. Personally, I’m waiting for someone to deliver a dozen red roses and a trip to Tahiti but only in my head, you understand.
So to all the volunteers, sponsors, friends and family…
I say…
