Troye Sivan & Elliot Page Among LGBTQ+ Stars In Bathhouse Photoshoot
Melbournian pop star Troye Sivan and trans actor Elliot Page of recent The Odyssey fame are just two of the LGBTQ+ stars featured in a steamy new photoshoot at New York City’s Russian & Turkish Baths.
According to Out, who first dropped the story, the bathhouse — one of NYC’s oldest, located on East 10th Street — was the perfect place to stage a “steamy spread of the hottest queer and straight guys to ever bare their chests”.
The resulting photoshoot by New York Magazine’s The Cut, aptly titled “The Boys in the Baths”, saw Sivan and Elliot joined by playwright and actor Jeremy O. Harris, award-winning author Marlon James, and others, all styled…sparingly… in designer accessories.
Elliot Page Offers Personal Reflections
For Page, the shoot comes five years after he first publicly showcased the results of his top surgery, the proud trans actor using the opportunity to reflect on how his relationship with his body has since changed.
“I went to a bathhouse recently,” Page told The Cut. “I’ve only in the past couple of years been like, Yeah, that sounds nice, to like go somewhere and sit around in your body like that.”
On the topic of bathhouses, Page went on to offhandedly reflect on his propensity for singing in the shower.
“The same songs and lyrics will get stuck in my head, and I don’t know why,” said Page. “Like “Do you believe in life after love?” That’s one I’ll belt out. Or “The Sound of Music”: I’ve never seen the movie, which seems crazy, but for some reason I find myself belting out that song in the shower. I can’t explain it.”
Troye Sivan Discusses His Latest Album
Meanwhile, Sivan felt no such compulsion to stick to the topic of soap and water, instead reflecting on the inspiration behind his latest album.
“I would say, in general, my new album is not coming from a place of peace,” Sivan said. “I think it’s coming from a place of longing. There’s a lot of manifestation on the album, where I write these love songs to this guy I don’t know. And a lot of the time, I was able to kind of sit in that and have these very vivid visualizations of what life is gonna be like.”
