MARIO Pereira has come a long way since he first discovered his passion for hairdressing at the age of 12 while growing up on his family’s corn farm in the north of Spain.

The hair stylist, now 33 and running his own salon in Sydney, spent hours and hours playing with the corn’s ‘hair’ (cornsilk).

“My family were supportive, they encouraged me to go to study and see how I felt about it (hairdressing),” Mario said.

Mario became a fully-trained hair stylist and was often working 16 hour days doing television shows, movies and theatre in Spain when he decided to take a break and come to Australia.

“Since I got here, I had to start from scratch again,” he said.

He now owns private hair studio MPC (More Personal Care) Hair on Kent St, Sydney, where he delivers a personal service working one-on-one with his customers.

Mario believes the relaxed environment is essential for delivering the best results – giving him time to understand each customer’s needs so he can best manage their look and style.

Combining the personal treatment with Mario’s unique flair for style and innovation, and the use of high quality products, guarantees customers leave MPC Hair looking great and feeling fantastic.

MPC Hair is also a green and sustainable business using ammonia free colour systems which leaves the hair looking and feeling better than ever before.

All the products used in the salon are free from petrochemicals and come from leading brand Davines, who only use organic and eco-certified ingredients produced with renewable clean sources. Which is good news for you and our environment.

The salon is also 100 per cent LGBTI friendly with Pereira happily out and proud. MPC hair is an active member of the SGLBA and during this year’s Mardi Gras Mario worked closely with QueerScreen offering a prize in their fund raising raffle and providing an exclusive offer to all the volunteers.

Mario has always looked to promote equality and support the community working as a volunteer at his first Mardi Gras five years ago and marching with his partner for Pride in Diversity three times. This year he joined 10 of his friends on the Sydney Queer Irish float to promote marriage equality and celebrate the union of two of his closest friends in Ireland in 2015.
