Sydney Mardi Gras’ Big Gay Weekend is only eight days away.

That means it’s time to start thinking about the 2012 Mardi Gras parade.

So let your imagination run wild on the Big Ideas Day on Saturday, October 1 to come up with bigger, brighter and better floats, dance numbers and routines for next year’s march down Oxford St.

Past parade entrants will also be on hand on the day to share their experiences and offer advice.

This is also your chance to join in the creative process, discuss and develop ideas and come up with a theme for next year’s parade.

For those wishing to enter the parade, information will be available on the day.

Whether you’re a parade veteran, popping your Mardi Gras cherry for the first time, or just want to come along and share some of your creativity and enthusiasm, all welcome to get involved.

The Big Ideas Day runs from 1 – 4pm at Paddington RSL.

There is also plenty of fun stuff happening during the same weekend, including a huge range of parties to suit all tastes, to raise money.
