Love-in for equality

Love-in for equality

Lock lips for liberty this Valentine’s Day at the Taylor Square kiss-in being staged by Community Action Against Homophobia.
Part of the national year of action for equal marriage rights, the fun protest will celebrate gay and lesbian relationships.
Couples will also be able to receive a blessing from MCC Crave’s Pastor Karl Hand.
“Come along and celebrate your love, share your stories and let everyone know your relationships are not second-class,” CAAH co-convenor Steaphan Martakony said.
“The very fact that we are still fighting for this basic civil right is an embarrassment to Australia’s reputation as a secular and egalitarian society,” co-convenor Ben Cooper added.
“Rallying on Valentine’s Day is about reminding those who support equal rights for same-sex couples and the gender diverse that we are still not equal in this country, but our relationships are just as meaningful.”
The kiss-in will begin at noon. The next major same-sex rally will be held on March 20.
