Bisexual blogger loses Speedo case
The Federal Court of Australia has ordered a Central Coast blogger to shut down a number pornographic websites featuring Speedo swimming costumes, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Self-proclaimed ‘bisexual blogger’ Dave Evans – who’s also known by web alias ‘aussiespeedoguy’ – registered domain names containing the word ‘Speedo’ and featured images of men wearing Speedo briefs, as well as pornographic images.
Speedo claimed these images were offensive and that Evan’s websites amounted to trademark infringement and threatened the company’s “valuable reputation and goodwill associated with the name and trademark ‘Speedo'”.
Evans was ordered to shut down the offending websites, transfer the domain names to Speedo and pay the company’s legal costs, SMH reports.
