Out Travel expo tonight

Get down to the Out Gay and Lesbian Travel Expo to get some great travel deals and firsthand knowledge about travel destinations.

Out Travel managing director Reece Farmilo told the Star Observer the expo was a great opportunity for anyone thinking about a holiday in the next two years to talk directly to tour operators, hotels and tourist boards.

“For anyone who is planning a holiday in the next 24 months this is a great chance to talk to somebody who knows exactly what these products are about, whether that’s a destination or a hotel, or what it’s like to do a cruise, and you’re actually talking to someone who has been on it or stayed there and knows it firsthand,” Farmilo said.

“A lot of our preferred hoteliers and tour operators are going to be there and a lot of gay travel wholesalers and hoteliers as well. We have the Thai tourist board and Tiffany’s Show, a transsexual show from Pattaya who are also marching in the Mardi Gras parade, and Gold Coast tourism.

“Gay Ski Week will be there and also Priscilla Tours which is a new company that is offering tours through the Northern Territory following the Priscilla movie track, so it’s a good cross-section of both gay and gay-friendly products.”

Many exhibitors will be offering special deals on the night.

“We’ve got Virgin Atlantic coming along, and Qantas and American Airlines, and they’ve got some fantastic deals, plus a lot of the hotels are offering value-added packages where they will throw in a massage or something like that if you make a booking within a certain period after the expo through Out Travel,” Farmilo said.

One lucky expo-goer will also be rewarded with a secret door prize on the night, while exhibitors have contributed prizes for a silent auction which Out Travel hopes will raise a couple of thousand dollars on the night.
