British retro-soul singer Adele has tied a long-standing chart record set by The Beatles way back in 1964 by having two singles and two albums in the UK top 5.

The critically acclaimed diva claimed her first number one single this week when Someone Like You jumped 47 spots to reach the top spot after she performed the song at the BRIT Awards.

While that heartbreaking ballad sits at number one, her previous single Rolling In The Deep rebounds to number four.

Meanwhile, on the album chart, her sophomore effort 21 – a chart topper in 17 countries – maintains a vice like grip on the pole position, while her debut album sits at number four.

Adele hasn’t made as big an impact in Australia but check out her phenomenal performance of Someone Like You at the BRITS (below) to see what all the fuss is about.
