Beyonce to Run The World

Beyonce to Run The World

The month-long wait for Beyoncé’s Run The World (Girls) video is finally over with the big budget extravaganza debuting on tonight’s episode of American Idol.

Directed by Francis Lawrence – the man behind Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance – the clip finds the 16 time Grammy winner in the role of a post apocalyptic warrior queen in charge of some very rowdy – and well dressed – girls.

Critics were quick to praise the choreography, which is heavily influenced by African tribal dance, and the spectacular photography.

The dance sequences are notably filmed in long shots to distance the diva from body double claims that plagued Britney’s recent clips – this is all Beyoncé.

There’s even a scene where Bey writhes in the sand that looks like a cheeky tribute to Kylie’s Slow video.

If Run The World (Girls) isn’t the film clip of the year, it’s definitely right up there.

And, more importantly, it has had an immediate impact on sales.

Since its debut the song has climbed over 60 places on US iTunes – with Beyoncé scheduled to appear on the final episode of Oprah, the campaign for 4 is just getting started.
