Kelly Clarkson’s due date

Kelly Clarkson fans will be disappointed to learn that her recently completed fifth album will be kept under lock and key until September.

American Idol’s inaugural winner jumped on Facebook earlier today to share the bad news.

“I recently found out that my album won’t be coming out until September,” she wrote.

“I realize that is a long time but that’s the best time to release it apparently so I’m sorry for the wait but I promise you it sounds great!”

The as yet untitled album was completed way back in January and, according to the down to earth diva, is heavily influenced by Prince, Tina Turner and Sheryl Crow.

With new releases from Lady Gaga and Britney looming, this could be a good business decision – but will the songs still sound fresh 9 months after being recorded?
