L-Word star kicked off plane for kissing

Former L-Word star Leisha Hailey is demanding an apology from a US airline after claiming she was kicked off a flight for kissing her girlfriend of five years.

Hailey – who played Alice on the popular Showtime series – has taken to Twitter calling for a boycott of Southwest Airlines after she said she was told by staff that it “was a ‘family’ airline and kissing was not ok.”

Hailey then said she and her girlfriend were “escorted off the plane for getting upset about the issue.”

“Since when is showing affection towards someone you love illegal? I want to know what Southwest Airlines considers as “family,” Hailey tweeted.

“Boycott @SouthwestAir if you are gay. They don’t like us.”

In a statement Southwest Airlines said customers had complained that Hailey and her girlfriend’s behaviour was “excessive” and they were “approached… solely on behavior and not gender.”

“The conversation escalated to a level that was better resolved on the ground, as opposed to in flight,” the airline said.
