Sex and the City set for TV return?

Sex and the City is reportedly coming back to the small screen.

Despite a very average response to its cinematic sequel last year, Hollywood bosses are said to have met this week to discuss the return, with Sarah Jessica Parker apparently agreeing to produce the show.

Parker had previously mentioned her reluctance to make another film after the disappointing reviews of Sex and the City 2.

“Ultimately Darren Star – the man who created the hit series – will have the overall say, but everyone is agreed a TV show is the direction they want to take the franchise in,” a source told Britain’s The Mail On Sunday.

“Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the Sex and the City 2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.”

There had also been plans for a Sex and the City prequel featuring new actresses playing the early years of Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha and Miranda.

Blake Lively, Selena Gomez and Emma Roberts had all been linked to the project, but it’s not known if it will proceed.

“They want to make the TV series before doing another film,” the insider said.
