Timberlake ‘first choice’ for Elton John biopic
Pop star-turned-actor Justin Timberlake is the top choice to play Elton John in a new movie-musical based on the veteran entertainer, reports the Los Angeles Times.
John said he compiled a list of actors he’d like to see play him in the planned ‘surreal’ musical.
“No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake, because he played me before in a David LaChapelle video of Rocket Man and was superb,” he said.
John is reported to be writing new songs for the film along with his extensive list of hits.
“Because it’s going to be a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge,” he said.
“I just don’t want it to be a normal biopic because my life hasn’t been like that. And it only goes up to when I go into rehab in 1990. It starts with me going into rehab and ends when I come out.”
The screenplay for the film has been written by Billy Elliot scribe Lee Hall and a director is expected to be announced soon.
