Coming out in Italian families

Coming out in Italian families

Italian-Australian LGBTI community members have been invited to attend a free community event this weekend to talk about their coming out experiences.

Family members are also invited to watch a short film by AGEDO, Italy’s equivalent to PFLAG, which supports parents of LGBTI people.

The film will be followed by discussions, entertainment by Elvira and her band, and afternoon dolci.

AGEDO convenor Rita De Santis, filmmaker Claudio Cipelletti and Italy’s renowned researcher on LGBTI family studies, Dr Chiara Bertone, will be available on Skype after the screening for questions and further discussion.

The Australian Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Multicultural Council (AGMC Inc) organised the event and is the peak body for LGBTI Australians from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds.

The event is held on Sunday, April 28 between 1-6pm at Trades Hall, Carlton.
