FGG takes one step closer to 2014

The Federation of Gay Games has received final bid documents from groups in Boston, Cleveland, Ohio and Washington DC, all hoping to host the 2014 games.
Bid cities will now be placed under scrutiny as FGG representatives and volunteers submit questions to the applying groups before sending a delegation to inspect proposed venues in each city in July.
Each of the bidders has met the FGG’s minimum requirements for Gay Games cultural events, with some spectacular ideas for executing these events, said the FGG Officer for Culture, Robby Davis.
They will partner with top-notch organisations to enrich their cultural programs, including conferences on topics that are truly suited to the Gay Games, such as the focus on young GLBT athletes from Boston and a symposium on women in sport from Washington.
FGG co-president Emy Ritt commented on the remarkably high standard of submissions entered this year, which would make things hard for the judging committee.
We’ve had contact with some great people from cities around the world that would be wonderful hosts of the Gay Games, and we thank them for the efforts they have made, she said. She encouraged cities interested in hosting the 2018 games to consider putting together proposals now.
The host city for 2014 will be selected at the FGG annual meeting in Cologne in September.
