Dannii mentors X Factor winner

Matt Cardle was crowned the winner of the hugely popular UK talent show X Factor on the weekend – with a little help from Dannii Minogue.

Our national treasure channeled all the wisdom and knowledge she’s gained from two decades of non-stop hits into the 27-year-old Brit, helping him make the transition from painter and decorator to pop star.

The younger Minogue selected the singer as one of her four charges early in the competition and campaigned for him relentlessly on Facebook and Twitter.

Matt has already recorded and released his debut single When We Collide – a renamed cover of Biffy Clyro’s Many Of Horror.

Unlike Australia, where Altiyan Childs struggled to break into the top 10 with his winning anthem, he is pretty much assured a #1 hit in the UK.

But only time will tell if he has the talent to make it internationally like Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke, or if he will disappear like Leon Jackson and Steve Brookstein.
