A Merry Christmas?

Christmas is upon us, and Western Sydney is full of something… Cheer?

With venues closing, cast members being axed, and GLBT events ending – are we really full of Christmas cheer?

December has been a sad month for Western Sydney – Parramatta* in particular.

At its peak, the most popular GLBT event in Parramatta (PASH/4Play) has now come to an end. A lack of attendance and the Parramatta Club being sold has meant that the doors have now closed forever for this infamous night.

The final evening at PASH/4Play was indeed an interesting affair, with many familiar faces coming out to support it’s last night, and many not… With the hostess bursting into tears during the final speech, one can only imagine why.

If this event closing was not enough – Fabulous Thursday’s at the Embassy Hotel in Penrith has also come to an end…

Event organiser Michael Laing, has now moved the night to the Bloc Nightclub in Penrith, where he hopes it will burst into life. ‘Bubblegum’ will feature noted Western Sydney performers, less the Cher Impersonator who no longer works in Western Sydney – Karma is a bitch.

Moorebank event Diamonds and Pearls has also seen some changes this month, with one of cast members and the host leaving under a cloud of ‘mobile’ controversy. So… out with the old, and in with ‘Your Westy Divas’, plus more changes to come in 2008!

Not all is dark in Western Sydney – Heaven Social Group will celebrate their final affair at the Parramatta Club on December 22nd, with a Mixed Up Christmas Show.

In January 2008, Heaven will celebrate its relocation to the Rosehill Bowling Club by launching their Legends of Music show, presented by Your Westy Divas – we just hope that the divas will continue on without drama in the New Year on the second Saturday of each month!

Also celebrating in 2008 is the busiest venue of them all – Dolphins, as they turn 12! So why not check out DJ Rita, and her lesbian following, every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at the Parramatta Golf Club.

Please make sure in 2008 that you support ALL our venues – or they WILL close down.
