Australian Capital Territory treasurer Andrew Barr has offered himself out to the highest bidder, all in the name of charity.

Throughout July, punters can bid in a silent auction to win a dinner date with the Rainbow Labor member at one of Canberra’s top restaurants, Babar.

The three highest bidders will go out to dinner with Barr on Thursday, August 30.

Money raised in the auction will go to LGBTI support group Diversity ACT and the AIDS Memorial Project.

Barr has been a longtime advocate of LGBTI issues and co-sponsored a motion with Finance Minister Penny Wong at last year’s Labor National Conference to change the party’s platform in support of same-sex marriage. To enter the competition, register a bid through the Diversity ACT website.
