Call for involvement in Oxford St

In what promises to be the widest consultation of the GLBT community by any Council, the City of Sydney has already invited several hundred people to discuss Oxford St and see a presentation about its new Sustainable Sydney 2030 project next Tuesday.

The City wants to discuss how the GLBT community can be actively involved in contributing to the strip’s future as its cultural, safety and sustainability strategies are realised.

Places are still available for community members eager to have their say and ask questions about the City’s plans.

Oxford Street is the traditional heart of Sydney’s GLBT community and it is vital that the community plays a key role in its development and the Forum will provide an opportunity to discuss ways the community can be actively involved, Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

The forum begins at 6pm, Tuesday 29 April, at Level 3, Town Hall House, behind Sydney Town Hall. People interested in attending should contact Lyn Black on 9246 7509 or email [email protected].

The Oxford Street Cultural Strategy is available from www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au. The Sustainable Sydney 2030 project is on public exhibition at Customs House and www.sydney2030.com.au.
