With nominations now closed for this year’s Honour Awards, the time has come to start thinking about booking your place at the GLBTI awards night.

To be held in the Sun Room at The Ivy on George St on Thursday, September 30, Honour will recognise the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations to our community.

“In previous years, Honour Award recipients were selected by the ACON board,” ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill said.

“This year we’ve made Honour a true community event by inviting community members to nominate people or organisations they feel have provided leadership or achieved outstanding success within the GLBT community or have provided excellent service or made a significant contribution to the GLBT community.

“This year we’ve also teamed up with the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Business Association, Sydney Star Observer, Foxtel and Merivale to help us increase the profile of the Honour Awards and make the event a more inclusive celebration of achievement within our community. So many thanks to these event partners for their generosity and support.”

Nominations were open across five categories covering the business, health, education, community, legal, political, media and cultural sectors.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
