Mardi Gras wants feedback

Mardi Gras has released a survey to gauge reactions to this year’s festival and to seek feedback on ways to better direct future events.
Jointly drafted by New Mardi Gras and Events NSW, the survey is being sent to people on NMG’s and Ticketek’s mailing lists to learn their thoughts on whether Mardi Gras makes Sydney a more enjoyable place to live and which events people enjoyed as well as what they would like to see changed.
The information will be used by NMG to plan for the next event, NMG chairman David Imrie told Sydney Star Observer.
We often do surveys on everything down to event styling and season theme, but this is the biggest survey of its kind we’ve done in terms of the number of people it’s going out to and the scope it’s covering, he said.
We’re trying to get a high level, broad view on how people feel about the festival, the organisation and what, if any, changes might be made to improve it.
One of the most frequent pieces of feedback we get is that there’s not enough change, and I think people are always chasing something that’s a little bit new and striking and cutting edge. So that’s the purpose of this to see what, if anything, we might consider changing.
Imrie stressed that suggestions would be carefully considered by the organisation.
Other questions include points on whether Mardi Gras as an event is embraced by the wider Sydney population, and whether it enhances Sydney’s reputation as a gay and lesbian lifestyle destination. There are also general questions on festival-goer demographics like suburb and income.
