Queer Screen wins IF Award
Queer Screen’s My Queer Career program was named Film Festival of the Year at this year’s If (Inside Film) Awards.
The award was in recognition or the program’s it’s contribution to the promotion and development of Australian LGBT filmmakers, and for sharing our communities’ stories for nearly 20 years.
Festival Director Lex Lindsay said he was very excited given it was the first time in its eight-year history IF had recognised a queer event.
“Our thanks and gratitude to the LGBTI queer community who’s passionate and persevering support has kept us, and other queer film festivals, alive and visible for such a long time,” Lindsay said.
“Whether through your endless volunteer hours, financial support, business or product partnerships; you and you’re dedication to assisting us produce our events is awe inspiring, affirming and truly invaluable.
“We cannot thank you enough for your role in making Queer Screen the unique and impactful organisation it is, and helping us build the scope and stature of My Queer Career.
Queer Screen is currently looking for sponsors for the 2011 Mardi Gras Film Festival.
For as little as $2000, queer and queer-friendly businesses can sponsor a session at MGFF.
