Rallying for our rights
A large queer contingent is expected to assemble at Sydney Town Hall for CAAH’s (Community Action Against Homophobia) rally for marriage equality on Saturday, May 15. The rally will coincide with this year’s International Day Against Homophobia, held two days later on May 17.
CAAH’s last rally, in March, attracted a crowd of more than 500 people, with speakers including gender activist norrie mAy-welby and Greens MLC Lee Rhiannon and messages of support from celebrities including Dannii Minogue. With drag queen and political activist Vanessa Wagner tipped to host the May 15 event, it’s hoped the rally will boast a similarly strong turnout.
If you’d like to help in the organisation of the rally, or would like to get involved with other CAAH projects, head to CAAH Sydney’s next meeting from 6pm on Thursday, April 22, UTS, Queer Space, Broadway.
