South Africa heads for civil unions

The enactment of a South African gay civil unions bill looks assured after the country’s governing political party voted to support it.Senior members of the African National Congress reminded colleagues of the party’s human rights history before the pro-gay unions vote, 365Gay.com reported.The South African government is due to pass the bill into law by December.The law would make South Africa one of a handful of countries to endorse gay civil unions, and the only African nation to do so.
