Summer Gay Day goes green

An eco-friendly events company has been engaged by Summer Gay Day to help make the new gay and lesbian festival that little bit greener.
A solar-charged sound system will be installed in the Summer Camp stage, one of three different spaces at Summer Gay Day.
The stage, which will be set into the side of Kippax Lake at Moore Park, will feature performances by comedians Jackie Loeb and Jody Ekert, drag performers Aunty Mavis and Glace Chase, and singers Tammy Ingram and Jeremy Brennan.
Tim Barker from Rejenr8 Productions said the solar-charged battery system used in the solar sound system was extremely powerful.
In layman’s terms it will run a large sound system for 40 hours, he said.
This is a pioneering approach to entertainment.
Rejenr8 Productions will also provide the geodesic dome that is being used for the Salt Clinic Day Spa at Summer Gay Day.
Festival-goers will be able to relax and get all manner of massages and facials in the dome.
The space is 44ft across and 22ft high making it the largest touring geodesic dome in the country.
Summer Gay Day marketing director Tim Duggan said he felt proud to be helping in some little way to make the event green.
Summer Gay Day will take place on Saturday 1 December, from midday to 10pm. For more information go to summergayday.com.au.
