Two Weeks Left For Sydney Mardi Gras Parade And Fair Day Applications

Applications to participate in the 2027 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade and Fair Day are open for just two more weeks.
Next year’s festival will take over Sydney from February 12 to March 7 under the newly announced theme “HYPERBLOOM”, which encourages LGBTQIA+ communities to celebrate their identities, bodies, love and joy on the largest possible scale.
Mardi Gras is calling on prospective participants to transform their biggest ideas into parade entries and Fair Day stalls that are colourful, ambitious and unapologetically proud.
Mardi Gras EOI applications open
Thousands of participants are expected to bring Sydney’s streets to life during the iconic Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade in 2027. Groups interested in joining the procession are encouraged to draw inspiration from the new theme HYPERBLOOM when developing their floats, costumes and performances. Expressions of interest for Parade entries will close on September 17.
Applications are still open for stalls at Fair Day, one of Australia’s largest LGBTQIA+ community celebrations. Businesses, charities, advocacy organisations, community groups and other stallholders have until September 18 to submit an expression of interest.

HYPERBLOOM was unveiled as an invitation for members of the community to allow every part of themselves to flourish, becoming bolder in their joy, more open in their love and prouder in who they are.
The concept blends the natural world with the energy of nightlife, providing plenty of creative possibilities for those designing floats and Fair Day activations.
The theme continues a Mardi Gras tradition stretching back nearly five decades. Themes have helped shape the identity and message of the festival since 1979, when approximately 3,000 people marched under the banner “Power in the Darkness”. That march took place one year after the historic 1978 protest, during which 53 people were arrested.
HYPERBLOOM follows “ECSTATICA”, the theme of the 2026 festival, and 2025’s “Free to Be”.
Parade and Fair Day applicants are encouraged to begin gathering their details and developing their concepts ahead of the September deadlines.
