Women in Mardi Gras drinks

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) Women’s Committee is calling for all women in the LGBTI community to get involved in the 2013 Sydney Mardi Gras Festival through a special event with guest speaker Eva Cox.

Cox, an Officer of the Order of Australia, is a prominent feminist, sociologist and social commentator who has even appeared on her own postage stamp and is a long-term member of the Women’s Electoral Lobby.

She was named Humanist of the Year in 1997 by the Council of Australian Humanist Societies.

The SGLMG Women’s Committee invites volunteers, members, festival participants, staff, board members, and past board members to join them to encourage the involvement of women in Mardi Gras through the event.

Come to The Bank Hotel (324 King St, Newtown – The Velvet Room) from 2-5pm on Saturday, May 26, and find out about getting involved as a volunteer, a festival participant or a parade entrant.

Attendees are invited to bring a friend to the event which the SGLMG Women’s Committee hope will show them just how fun and rewarding being a part of Sydney Mardi Gras can be.

Music will be provided by 2011 Mardi Gras DJ Spin-Off winner DJ Du Jour.
