Argent an open book

PFLAG national spokeswoman Shelley Argent will launched her second book Opening The Door at Melbourne queer bookstore Hares and Hyenas next week.

Down from her home state of Queensland, Argent will launch the book following up with an address at Princes Hill Secondary College as part of Melbourne GLBTI radio station JOY94.9’s annual outside school broadcast.

The book will also include an edition of Argent’s first booklet, Sexuality is Not a Choice, a self-help guide for parents of gay children coming out.

The booklet helps to dispel some of the myths around sexuality and helps parents come to terms with feelings of confusion and isolation.

Argent has taken a leading role in the last decade advocating for equal rights for gays and lesbians since her own son came out.

The launch is at 6pm, Wednesday, August 11 and Argent is available for a Q&A session.
