Lambert for Mardi Gras?

Lambert for Mardi Gras?

Out American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is shaping up to be the likely surprise performer at next Saturday’s Mardi Gras party.

Record company Sony BMG announced today the controversial performer will fly into Australia next week for a promotional tour to support the release of his debut album For Your Entertainment.

The visit will take in Sydney and Melbourne, with Lambert scheduled to autograph copies of his album at HUM on Oxford St at noon on the day of the party.

I’m really looking forward to seeing Australia and meeting my fans Down Under. I know it’s going to be so much fun,” Lambert said in a written statement.

Calls to Southern Star’s sister publication, Sydney Star Observer, yesterday and today have indicated next Saturday’s surprise guest is “a breakaway performer promoting their debut album”.

Other calls to the office have suggested Pink, who is expected to return to Australia for the Melbourne Grand Prix in March, is also expected to perform at the party.

Coincidentally Lambert’s current single, Whataya Want From Me, was co-written by Pink.

The album also features work by gay Aussie singer and last year’s Harbour Party performer Sam Sparro and superstar of the moment Lady Gaga.
