Australian representatives from the Gay Games will hold an information and registration session on Saturday March 21 to garner further interest in the upcoming 2010 Cologne Games.

Scheduled for 5pm at Kinselas Middlebar, directly after a Team Sydney club meeting, the Cologne presentation will offer interested sports men and women an opportunity to learn more about the Games, the city and registration.

Former participants and people with a future interest in taking part will be able to learn something about the Gay Games in general, about Cologne and about how the Games will look and feel, Australian Cologne Games representative Philipp Lischke said.

People will be able to register on site and the registration fee -” which depends on the type of sport you play -” will on this day have a 10 euro discount and additionally, people who show up at the event and sign up will get a free T-shirt.

Gay Games organisers have already reported positive registration numbers but are keen to bolster more support from Sydneysiders as former hosts of the Games.

Right now the registration numbers in Australia are quite good but because we had the 2002 games in Sydney, we are really, really keen to have a lot of people from here, Lischke said.

All the former cities usually draw lots more participants than other cities, but we just think it would be really, really great to get a large number from Sydney.

Anyone not able to attend the event will still be able to register online. Information seminars will also be held in capital cities around the country in the coming months.
