Quakers support gay marriage
The Australian Quakers this week called on the Federal Government to amend the Marriage Act to give full and equal legal recognition to all marriages, regardless of the sexual orientation and gender of the partners. The Quakers, a traditionally liberal Christian organisation, also agreed to practise full marriage equality within Quaker Meetings around Australia, including celebrating the spiritual aspects of same sex weddings. The move has been met with support from those in the GLBTI community/“The Quakers may be a small denomination, but where they lead on social justice issues other Christian denominations often follow,” said Australian Marriage Equality spokesman Alex Greenwich.
“The Quaker decision also raises the issue of freedom of religion – Quakers allow same-sex marriages to be solemnised in their churches but are denied equal legal recognition of these marriages by the government.”
Greenwich called on other Christian churches to debate and support same-sex marriage.
“Christians who truly value marriage should not allow the institution to be demeaned by discrimination and inequality.”

Wow I was in agreement for most of this letter. Until it descended into a racist rant. That rant totally undoes the good points otherwise made that I am in total agreement with. Yes do vote Greens Number 1. Do understand the Greens are not racist. You only have to look at their record.
I have many problems with Rudd on gay and environmental issues. However limiting immigration intake does not mean being racial about it. Discriminate instead on basis of those running from tyranny like gays in Iran and those whom are have education qualifications.
Racism is just as bad as homophobia. Both should be opposed as the evil they are.
I just don’t get our own bigoted Government, here will continue to ban same sex marriage – while;
Portugal, New Hampshire, Mexico City, a southern region of Argentina (and possibly Albania, Nepal, Uruguay, Slovenia, Iceland and Luxembourg this year or next year will even allow gay marriage).
When did we get so behind other nations on gay rights – is it because that gay sex was still illegal in most parts of Australia until the late 1970’s? – or is it because that a government is so scared at loosing an election this year that they see gay marriage as “political suicide” or “fodder from the liberal party to attack Labor”?
I have even heard that even gay aliens on mars have the right to marry [so I have been told] – but we here in “backward” Australia run by extremist Christians (Kevin Rudd or Kommunist Kevin) give recognition to same sex couples – because it saves the government money. This is a slap in the face to hardworking, taxpaying gay and lesbian partners, including the ones who have children.
This is clearly not recognition of our relationships – this is about gay bashing and pleasing the ACL and the AFA since they are kissing his feet and the sooner we get rid of both major Governments with two bad choices (Kevin Rudd “a very dangerous Communist Catholic” or Tony Abbot “an extremist catholic who is against everything”). But not only that a bigger scarier agenda is starting to form and take shape.
BRING ON THE FEDERAL ELECTION NOW AND VOTE 1 GREENS!!!!!
Also Tasmania, Victoria and South Australia (as well as the federal government) will also have an election this year – go figure!!!

I call him “Kommunist Kevin” – because of a massive plan to do trade with China, speaks mandarin very well, filter the internet and before you know it, Kevin Rudd will become Emperor of Australia when he gains more power (possibly in the Senate after the election).
It all adds up now Kevin Rudd – I know your agenda (I see you for what you really are in 2010). Quit now while you are ahead – Over my dead body I will let Kevin Rudd turn Australia into a communist country. I am deeply scared for our great country of ours Australia turning into a communist country hell hole, because we have a complete lack of social and legal reforms for hard working ordinary everyday Australians even now in 2010!
Then again my great grandfather was right with this quote:
“We should of shoot and blow-up all the Asians sky high back in both world wars while we had the chance to stop the evil spread of communism”.
And let’s remember good-old Pauline Hanson’s quote:
“I fear that Australia is been swamped by Asians, they refuse to assimilate to our way of life”.
