Queer Screen mentors filmmmakers

GLBT filmmakers will have a chance to make their mark on the industry thanks to Queer Screen’s new mentorship program.
The program gives selected participants the opportunity to work with industry professionals in a script development lab.
Queer Screen general manager Jain Moralee said the program will allow filmmakers to develop their ideas into a script, or take their script through the draft process with a view to getting it into production.
Hopefully we’ll have some workshop days and some one-on-one sessions involving the filmmakers and mentors, and then some follow-through work when they’ve completed their drafts, she said.
Moralee hopes the mentorship program will be ongoing.
We really want to see the local filmmaking community supported. The films entered in the My Queer Career competition show we’ve got a wealth of talent in this country and I think the more we can help develop films at script stage the better.

Support the Star Observer… while you still can

LGBTQIA+ media is under threat. Queer content is censored by tech conglomerates who amplify bigotry and push out AI slop — so we receive less financial support than ever.

When our community is muzzled and intolerance intensifies, we need queer media more than ever. Your donation means we can continue paying queer journalists to write queer news.

Don’t rely on the straight lies of big tech – support Star Observer instead and donate now.
