Spectator season hots up

With the softball season coming to an end it might be too late to take up the sport, but there’s never been a better time to become a spectator.

The Outfielders have started the final playoffs so sideline particpants are assured of some exciting matches, league president Jappe Wouters said.

Ten teams will be whittled down to just one victor over the coming weeks.

We’ve split the comp up into two smaller leagues for the playoff. The teams that lose finish their season, while the others go on to play the finals in about three weeks, Wouters said.

It’s definitely a matter of club accolade as well as about trying to win the club trophy. But yes, it is still fun, while some people take it quite seriously.

People are always welcome to drop by and watch us, but I think, particularly at the moment and on the night of the eventual final, it’s a great night to watch -” it’s probably the best night of the season actually.

Wouters said it was also a prime opportunity for anyone considering taking up the sport next year.

info: The Outfielders play on Tuesday nights at Moore Park from 6.30 pm. For more information visit sydneyoutfielders.org.au.
