Frontrunners heed calls for change

The Sydney Frontrunners gay and lesbian running group distributed a survey for its members earlier in the year, which it followed up with a workshop last month. Both activities aimed to ensure the organisation better suited the people involved.

Key points from the survey and forum include a request for more variation in runs, with a summer kick-off run starting and ending in Clovelly planned for Saturday, December 3. Members are also encouraged to host Sunday runs in different locations.

Frontrunners members also requested more notice for upcoming special events. With that in mind, the group is reminding members to keep November 5 free for its anniversary party. Further ahead, the 2012 Little Black Dress run will be held on February 25.

Many members expressed the need for better coordination of team entries in major races, so Frontrunners are seeking a race coordinator to set up the team entry for major races and promote group participation. Volunteers for this role should contact the committee.

Members also requested better coordination of the regular weekend 12km and 5km runs, to reduce wait time for those participating in the longer run wanting to meet up with those doing the shorter run afterwards. Heeding this call, the

Frontrunners will run a pilot in October and November where the 12km run starts at 8.30am and the 5km run starts at 9am, closing the gap between the two finish times.
