Triathlon added to Outgames offerings
Triathlon has been confirmed as the 17th sport at the 2nd Asia Pacific Outgames in Wellington next year.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 12, the first official day of Outgames competition. The course hub will be Waitangi Park in central Wellington.
The event will be part of the Contact National Triathlon series and will offer two distance options. The first includes a 300m harbour swim, 9km cycle and 3km run, the second has a 1500m harbour swim, 40km cycle (flat out and back loop) and a 10km run. Both can be entered by individuals or by teams of two or three people who divide up the events.
This will be the first competition of the Outgames, and the triathlon medals will be the first ones awarded.
Plans for football (soccer) are also developing quickly. Outgames organisers said they hope to confirm the sport within the next month.
Registration is now open for the triathlon, along with other confirmed sports.
