A new PFLAG chapter

A new PFLAG chapter

PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) have started a new chapter in the Great Lakes/Manning area, bringing the number of PFLAG chapters in NSW to nine.

They do amazing work in helping combat homophobia and discrimination against same-sex attracted people from all walks of life. The new PFLAG chapter in the Great Lakes/ Manning will hold its next meeting on Saturday, May 28, 1.30 pm with a guest speaker from ACON. To see if there is a PFLAG in your area or to contact the Great Lakes/Manning PFLAG coordinators, visit www.Pflagaustralia.org.au or call Glenn at ACON’s Port Macquarie office on 02 6584 0943.

The GLBTIQ community on the Mid North Coast has a radio show called Out on the Manning. It can be heard on 2BOB 104.7FM out of Taree every Thursday, 8-9pm. Listeners are greatly appreciated and will hear up-to-date news and items affecting the GLBTIQ community as well as great music.

Out ‘N Hastings, Port Macquarie’s GLBTIQ social group, is having an ’80s theme dance.  (Was it that long ago that it can become a theme for a dance?) This is their first big dance for 2011 and will be held at Pier One in Port Panthers from 7pm on Saturday, June 4. A great night out of dancing and shows for just $20 with concession available at the door. For more details, call 0419 030 988.

Out ‘N Hastings has a presence on Facebook, as well as a website which it is anticipated will be launched this month. Their email address is [email protected] and they would love people to contact them with ideas, questions, or event suggestions or wanting to become members and get involved.
