New year and a new constitution

New year and a new constitution

At the member’s meeting prior to our wonderful Christmas party the members voted in our new Dykes on Bikes (DOB) constitution. This was a work of love by Jenny, our vice president, since attending a training course on governance run by Camp Co-op ea

rlier in the year.

The major changes include having the membership year the same as a calendar year, committee members voted in for two-year terms and the consolidation of a lot of our current practises into the constitution.

The change also formalises our membership types into full, interstate/overseas, associate/pillion and the formal inclusion of a life membership category.

We have presented the document to the Department of Fair Trading and will have it available on our website as soon as it has been confirmed.

Now to fun stuff. The annual summer Bamarang getaway will be held over four days starting on Australia Day. This is always a hoot and is filled with food, laughter and friendship.

Only two and a half hours away from Sydney it is far enough away to feel like a holiday but not so far that it takes you half your holiday to get there.

We have our own little beach, beautiful mudbrick cottages and a blazing fireplace to gather round in the evening.

The cost covers all food and accommodation so all you need to bring is your drinks. You don’t have to be a member to come along and it’s a great way to meet and socialise with Dykes on Bikes, away from the bikes. Cars are welcome. If you are interested on coming down for a night or all three, please email us at [email protected] for more information.

Also, don’t forget that applications for the Club Five Dock RSL Riding Scholarship are now open. This gives some young dykes the chance for Dykes On Bikes to assist them with getting their motorcycling licence. Head over to the website at www.dykesonbikessydney.org.au or email us for more
information.

Remember to ride safe and sexy.
